Despite the pessimism and the negative effects of the current crisis, the NBB network had great expansion results in the first quarter of the year, reinforcing its leadership as a worldwide network specialised in M&A and BB. The six new Portuguese offices of Albufeira, Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto-Antas, Funchal, Leiria-Centro and Lisbon-Oeiras demonstrate the vitality of the network as well as its broader presence in Portugal. Internationally, NBB’s strategy has been the consolidation of the foreign markets where NBB partners are currently established. In addition, two new partners joined us in April and May in Germany. The NBB office in Ankara, Turkey started with the operations, filling the bridge to the Middle East, where we also have found a partner that will develop the NBB business, namely in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Another new partner network was set up in China with an NBB office in Shanghai with tremendous growth capacities. The key to success of NBB’s strategy and to positive results is justified by the demand for professional services in today’s M&A world. The quick globalisation of the economy and the fast enlargement of the commercial, financial and capital markets bring increased challenges to the companies. The highly competitive environment makes them constantly adapt their growing strategy, and transform weaknesses to strengths and threats to opportunities. Growing by mergers and acquisitions and through internationalisation, the search for strategic/financial partners represents more and more tactical options and critical factors to reach an advantageous positioning in the emerging global market. Becoming part of an entrepreneurial network represented by 50 offices in 17 countries, the NBB partners have found a great opportunity to benefit and enhance their experience and professional background. NBB arranged a partner meeting with partners from Portugal and Spain The best way for a network to achieve success is focusing on team work. NBB organised the Second Iberian Convention 2009 in Viseu with the participation of its Portuguese and Spanish partners, overcoming the borders between the two countries, and talking about one common market with enormous synergies and opportunities.

Has the NBB activities suffered because of the “Crisis”? “Has the crisis caused you to have negative consequences?” was the most obvious and most repeated question asked when the NBB concept and business model was analysed lately, “and have you suffered a decrease in buying and selling activities during the current crisis?” Although common sense may indicate that the answer should be negative, the facts show the opposite.
